BAWTA Repatriation Scheme Application Form
British Association of Wholesale Tour Agents - BAWTA Repatriation Scheme
Legally, customers on tour with you outside of the UK must be covered for repatriation in the unfortunate event of financial failure of your business.
Are you covered and have you checked who provides the necessary cover?
Under the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992, all Tour Organisers or Operators are required not only to have protection in place to protect customers’ money but also to ensure their repatriation in the event of financial failure.
If you run an inclusive package of more than 24 hours duration involving more than one of the following: transport, accommodation, other tourist services, then the European package travel regulations affect you!
Membership of Bonding Schemes or Insurance Policies may provide you with the necessary cover for repatriation. But remember to check. If you run a Trust Account for protecting customers’ money, then you must still legally have separate cover set up for customers’ repatriation back to the UK.
Why use the BAWTA Repatriation Scheme?
• Exceptional value for money for operators to meet their legal requirements for customer protection
• Flexibility, with 3 options of cover
• Customer repatriation left in the hands of a wholesale tour agent rather than being outsourced by an insurance company
BAWTA Repatriation Scheme Options and Fees
Option 1 All tours arranged wholly or partially through BAWTA member(s) - 1 year £100
Option 2 All tours arranged wholly or partially through BAWTA member(s) - 2 years £180
Option 3 Some tours arranged, and some not arranged, through BAWTA member(s) - 1 year only £195
What should we do next?
If you have any queries, you can contact any BAWTA member to discuss them. Full information is also available online at our website www.bawta.co.uk
