Almost 100 years ago, a series of political events combined with imperialistic foreign policies of the great powers of Europe resulted in the outbreak of what was to become one of the most tragic of wars of the 20th century. Tracing the extraordinary courage of notorious frontal attacks and the life of the trench soldier of World War I, this tour explores the battlefields and memorials in Artois and Flanders. We also discover local heritage and attractions, plus optional day trips to medieval Bruges or Ghent.
